The project started because area churches saw a need to provide help to the increasing number of families in the area that were struggling to provide the basic necessities. The first food bank was located in the Presbyterian Church.
The Food Bank has moved to many locations since then. In 2009, with the financial assistance of several bequests received over the years, the Food Bank was able to purchase their current location at 58 Buell Street in Brockville, Ontario.
In 2013, the Food Bank underwent a major renovation to upgrade the building and improve service to visitors from the community. The operating name was changed at the same time to Brockville and Area Food Bank, for better community recognition.
